Looking for a boat to circumvent the plain
Hi,
I'm Marlene from Germany and travel now for over a year. Because of the carbon dioxide I try now to figure out whether sailing the Atlantic back home would be an option for me.
I grew up in the northern part of Germany between the seas but don't have any sailing experience. But I'm willing to learn and I'm a fast leaner. The only long term experience was for three weeks around Svalbard on a small retired rescue ship that became a researcher ship. I really enjoyed it and it wasn't a problem for me to be there on this small space with 14 other people I've never met before. Because of this experience and roadtrips with people I've met on Facebook just a few weeks before we started I think I can say that I can handle situations where you are with strangers in a situation where nobody can escape :)
Before I started traveling I went to school in Germany, met my friends, did some yoga, upcycled my furnitures and handcrafted like knitting, making bracelets, sewing,... Now during traveling I spend a lot of time with organizing the next steps or exploring the place where I am and learning new things from my hosts. I try to do Couchsurfing or Workaway all the time and had lots of really nice experiences. In my first Workaway I helped with cleaning, cooking, walking the dogs and spending time with the family. Besides that I had one job as a waitress and another one as a host. In my second Workaway I learned a lot about gardening, canning, helped with cleaning and cooking, building a porch and a swing and used some saws and other tools I never used before.
Before I left Canada I did a roadtrip with a guy from Facebook and found my enthusiasm for mountain biking and surfing. So my plans when I go back to Germany are moving somewhere south to study and where I can go mountain biking and climbing as well.
After one year in Canada I traveled the USA for a month and now I'm in Mexico to learn some Spanish.
I'm up to learn how to sail, doing the dishes, cooking, cleaning,...whatever need to be done on the boat.
I hope I could give you a good picture of myself. When you have more questions just let me know :)
