going from Brazil or Guyana to Europe in 2025
Hello,
My name is Marion, I'm 22 years old, and after a year of traveling and volunteering in Latin America, I would love to sail to Europe next spring.
Initially, I hadn’t fully grasped the scale of such a project. Like many, my main motivation was simply not to fly. However, after many discussions with sailors and crew members, some reading, and my first sailing lessons (about ten hours of one to one lessons with a navigator on the Pacific in Chile aboard a little Laser 4.7), I realized all that it entails. Today, I’m both scared, fascinated, and excited by the idea of discovering longer-duration sailing and offshore navigation, and I’m looking for people willing to share this experience and their passion with me.
I’m aware that choosing a crew member is not something to take lightly. While my limited sailing experience doesn't make me a huge technical asset, I am driven by a deep curiosity for this new world that I’m eager to explore. I love pushing myself, learning, and understanding new things. I would like to contribute onboard as much as possible, mainly in daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, watchkeeping, or taking care of children if there are any (I have lots of experience in childcare both at home and in after-school settings).
I’m from the Alps, so I’m used to outdoor sports and not afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone. I learn quickly, am easy-going, and am eager for new experiences. I’m studying ecology and have a particular interest in the ocean and its biodiversity.
I’m looking to join a crew on the coast of Brazil or French Guiana, ready to cross to Europe, taking the time necessary for all the required stops. My only limit is not to embark with just one person for safety reasons.
I would love to be involved in the trip’s preparation, discuss with the crew beforehand, get to know each other, and, of course, contribute to travel costs. I’m fluent in French and English, and I’m currently learning Spanish.
If you think we could share all or a part of the journey together, feel free to get in touch!
See you soon,
Marion
