Looking for a Competent Crew, Delivery Crew or Mile building position
Hi - I've just joined Crewbay. I'm interested in finding a position as a Competent Crew, Delivery Crew or Mile building. I have a passion for sailing and teaching and am going for my USCG 100 ton master's captains license with a sailing endorsement. I have over 2000 nm sailing the texas gulf coast. I built five years wooden sailboats over the last fifteen years. get along well with others and learn fast.

Sailing & Boat Handling Skills:
Coastal cruising and overnight passage making. experience sailing in variable conditions
Beam reach sailing / navigating in high winds (up to 30 knots)
Sail trimming for safety, comfort, balance and speed
Fractional Sloop rig, Lug rig sail setup, tuning, and adjustment.
Reefing and rigging small vessels (25' and under) for performance and safety
Daggerboard, Centerboard and Leeboard operational experience
Rudder design knowledge and effective steering under power
Dinghy and flat-bottom boat handling under sail and outboard power
Launching and retrieving in shallow and coastal waters
Navigation & Weather Interpretation
Coastal route planning (Texas 200: Port Isabel to Port O’Connor)
Use of buoy and marine weather data for daily trip decisions
GPS tracking and waypoint marking
Tide and current awareness for safe passage
Technical & Mechanical Skills
Troubleshooting and problem solving mechanical and electrical systems. HVAC experience. Gasoline engine understanding and maintenance. Have overhauled several outboards.
Knowledge of outboard tuning and performance.
Solar installation, charge controller setup and configuration (Victron)
Knowledge of fuel varnish issues related to ethanol storage
Boat Building
Custom sailboat rigging and deck layout
Lightweight systems design for performance and portability
DIY solutions for small boat systems (sail, power, electrical)
Practical knowledge of hydrofoil effects and boat planing dynamics
Fishing & Outdoor Survival Skills
Coastal fishing experience integrated with sailing trips
Basic survival and provisioning on long coastal routes
