Let's Go Sailing! Looking to do some sailing, some learning, and general time exploring the world
Hi, exploring the world. Looking to fill the longtime dream of sailing across an ocean. This would also help me make my way closer to home (somewhat) without a plane. I am very eager to learn anything on the topic as well!
I'm on what's turning out to be a bit of a trip around the world, and a boat seems like a wonderful way to continue! Back home I do a fair bit of canoeing and kayaking, as well as time spent on/near the water, but this is always on landlocked lakes and rivers.
I am looking to learn more about sailing and it's intricacies. I'll happily help out with any position on a boat and am aiming to make it back to Canada eventually. I am interested in buying a sail boat eventually, so this is a wonderful way for me to dip my toes in the sailing/cruising world
I'm very handy when it comes to building/fixing/maintenance of things and enjoy of manual work. Rebuild a wood/fiberglass canoe a few summers ago, and used to ,design+build off-road race cars in university . Before I left on this trip, I fixed an old canoe and built a new door for my sister's house, and am familiar with sewing. So if you have a sewing machine, I've a few bits of clothing that I could fix.
I've spent the past few months as first mate on the SV Mollie, (planning, helming, onboarding, maintenance, repair, etc..), and I am hoping to get to learn the in/outs of a different kind of sailboat, and get some varied experience. This will allow me to learn more and give me a better idea of what kind of boat I enjoy most being on.
