Looking for a Deckhand position
Dear Captain / Hiring Manager,
My name is Ian G. Barcenilla, and I am an experienced seafarer with over five years of service onboard commercial vessels, progressing from Ordinary Seaman to Able-Bodied Seaman. I have developed strong skills in vessel operations, maintenance, safety procedures, and teamwork, and I take pride in being reliable and hardworking in all tasks assigned.
I have gained hands-on yachting experience as a dayworker on M/Y KARMA (32m) and M/Y DEEP BREATH (67m). During these roles, I assisted with general deck maintenance, stainless steel polishing, teak care, engine room and bilge cleaning, tender washing, organizing equipment, and supporting the senior crew in preparing the yachts for daily operations.
M/Y OLMIDA (48m), where I am primarily assigned to the engine room under the guidance of the Chief Engineer. My responsibilities include de-rusting, chipping, and painting all machinery spaces, thorough bilge cleaning, and carrying out various maintenance and cleaning tasks as directed by the engineering department. This experience has further strengthened my understanding of yacht standards, attention to detail, and teamwork between deck and engineering departments.
I am passionate about the ocean and highly motivated to continue building my career in the yachting industry. With my combined commercial and yachting background, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn, I am confident in my ability to contribute positively to your vessel and crew.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can be an asset to your team.
Kind regards,
Ian G. Barcenilla
