Hello sailors,
My name is Fernando, and I am looking for opportunities to join sailing yachts as crew for coastal, offshore, and long-distance passages anywhere in Europe and beyond.
I am based in Europe and can travel to departure ports throughout the Mediterranean, Atlantic coast, North Sea, Baltic Sea, or other locations when needed.
My primary goal is to gain practical sailing experience, spend as much time at sea as possible, and learn from experienced skippers. I already have practical sailing experience, including multi-day offshore passages in the Mediterranean, and I am highly motivated to continue developing my seamanship skills.
I am not a complete beginner. I already have practical sailing experience from multi-day passages and can actively sail the boat. In moderate weather and sea conditions, I am comfortable steering, keeping watch, handling sails, and taking responsibility during my watch. At the same time, I remain eager to learn from experienced skippers and continue developing my offshore sailing skills.
I can assist with:
• Watch keeping (day and night)
• Steering and sail handling
• Deck work and general maintenance
• Cooking and galley duties
• Cleaning and general onboard tasks
• Passage preparation and provisioning
Outside sailing, I have extensive experience leading wilderness expeditions, trekking, canoeing, and packrafting trips in remote environments. I am accustomed to challenging conditions, teamwork, responsibility, and living for extended periods away from comfort and civilization.
Professionally, I have worked as a musician, tour guide, and expedition leader. I am easy-going, sociable, adaptable, respectful, and enjoy working with people from different backgrounds. I believe a positive attitude, humility, reliability, and good teamwork are essential on any boat.
I am not looking for a holiday. My objective is to learn, contribute, work hard, and become a more capable sailor through real sea experience.
