Keen to learn & build miles — deckhand, motor or sail (Madeira)
i'm Samir, 31, from Switzerland and based on Madeira right now. i'm early on the water — RYA Day Skipper Theory (March 2026) and SRC radio (June 2026) done, but not many miles yet — and i'm here to change that. my goal is motor cruising and my own guiding one day, but right now i want to build real sea miles and learn as much as i can about handling a boat, on sail or motor.
i'm a plasterer by trade, so i'm genuinely handy on board — maintenance, repairs, whatever needs fixing underway. i'm doing hands-on work here on Madeira right now, so reliable, fit and up early is just normal for me. i take watches, cook (fish especially), clean and tidy, and muck in with whatever keeps a happy boat — easy to live with in tight quarters. fishing is my big passion, so on passage i'm happy to trail a line and put fresh fish on the table.
i'm available now, up for trips of a month or more, and happy to travel — i'm close to the Canaries and mainland Portugal. i don't need pay, i just want to learn, be useful, and earn my miles with people who know what they're doing.
i speak German (my mother tongue) and fluent English, plus some French.
