Looking for a Deckhand position
Dear
I'm here to express my strong interest in joining your crew for the available deckhand position.
I’m immediately available to start.
I'm at the start of my deckhand career and I see that as a genuine strength: I come full of energy to commit, zero bad habits and with a background that's already shaped me into exactly the kind of crew member captains want. What I lack in direct yachting experience, I more than make up for with the can-do attitude and work ethic that all leaders look for in their crew.
Here's why I'm confident I'm the right candidate, despite being new to yachts
specifically:
Discipline under pressure.
I spent six years in the Portuguese Marines, where following orders precisely, staying composed in demanding situations, and performing reliably as part of a team weren't optional, they were the standard. That foundation doesn't disappear; it's exactly what's needed on deck.
Proven adaptability and fast learning.
After the Marines, I built a career as a CrossFit coach and massage therapist, which took me back to sea through two six-month cruise ship contracts as a wellness coach and massage therapist. Each transition
required me to learn new skills quickly and perform at a professional level fast, proof that I don't need years to become competent and trusted in a new environment.
Maritime familiarity.
Even if the role is new. I already understand life at sea: ship routines, professionalism in close-quarters environments, and what it takes to operate smoothly within a structured maritime team. The deckhand skill set is new, but the environment isn’t.
Physical readiness.
I'm fit, strong, and built for hands-on, physical work. Long days and hard tasks aren't a concern for me, they're what I'm looking for.
A strong work ethic and attitude.
I take direction well and I show up ready to work. Whatever I don't yet know, I'll make up for in effort, reliability, and a genuine willingness to do whatever the job requires.
A natural fit for crew life.
Beyond the technical side, I know how important it is to mesh well with a small, close-knit team living and working together at sea. I'm easygoing, respectful, and used to adapting to different personalities and routines, whether through military teams or cruise ship crews, and I'm confident I can fit seamlessly into your team from day one, both on deck and off.
Practical extras. I hold an Open Water Diver certification and speak multiple languages, other useful additions on board.
I'm fully committed to working hard, learning fast, and becoming a crew
member any captain would be glad to have onboard.
