Experienced ASA Sailor Seeking Catamaran Cruising & Offshore Mile-Building Opportunities
Hello! My name is Stephen, and I'm a recreational sailor from Houston, Texas, preparing for a long-term cruising lifestyle before purchasing my own catamaran.
I have completed ASA 101, ASA 103, and ASA 104 and am currently working toward ASA 114 (Cruising Catamaran). My goal is to gain real-world experience from experienced skippers while building offshore miles, improving seamanship, and learning every aspect of living aboard.
I'm dependable, easygoing, and believe that every crew member should contribute. I'm happy to stand watches, trim sails, handle dock lines, anchor, provision, cook meals, clean, complete maintenance projects, and help wherever needed. I have a mechanical background, Rescue Diver certification, first aid training, and enjoy solving problems and learning new skills.
Although my long-term goal is to own and safely skipper my own cruising catamaran, I'm not looking for a free vacation. I'm looking for genuine sailing experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to become a valuable member of the crew.
I'm especially interested in:
Catamaran cruising
Offshore passages
Delivery trips
Mile-building opportunities
Liveaboard cruising
Mexico, the Sea of Cortez, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, California, the Caribbean, and other interesting cruising destinations
Outside of sailing, I've spent decades as a business owner and educator, so I'm comfortable working with people, taking responsibility, communicating clearly, and staying calm under pressure. I respect the captain's decisions, work well as part of a team, and enjoy meeting fellow sailors.
If you're looking for reliable crew who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and eager to learn while contributing to your voyage, I'd love to hear from you.
Fair winds,
Stephen
