2x2 helping hands and 1 guitar wanting to cross the Atlantic :)
Hey out there!
We’re Johanna (she, 23) & Leve (he, 32), and now that we’ve both finished our bachelor’s degrees in environmental science, we’d like to spend a year exploring new places to meet inspiring people, experience different cultures, and spend time out on the water. More specifically, we’d like to sail across the Atlantic from Madeira or the Canary Islands and are looking for a spot on a boat for two starting in late October, where we can help with sailing, cooking, cleaning…
We’ve both already gained a bit of sailing experience. Leve has sailed on traditional sailboats a few times—this year on a week-long trip along the coast of Sweden, last year on the Lovis between Rügen and Usedom, and previously on a few smaller boats during day trips. He spent his first exam period in the library, procrastinating with a knot book and ropes. Johanna took a six-month sailing course in school and, in 2024 during her semester abroad in Lausanne, learned how to safely sail small sport boats and how to read and use the wind. We’re both pretty easygoing overall—we enjoy cooking, are good at communicating, love to chat, read, play games, and make music (Johanna will bring her guitar and loves to play and sing— maybe together?! :)), but we’re also perfectly comfortable with quiet time. We don’t have any luxury demands and are aware that spending several weeks in a confined space will present challenges for everyone, and that it will be important to keep an eye on what’s needed to ensure the crew has the best and most relaxed experience possible.
