Motivated crew member looking for a transatlantic trip EU to Americas - available from 10/26, flexible on departure
Hello,
My name is Andrea, I'm 29, and I'd like to join a boat this autumn (from 10/26) to cross the Atlantic. Flexible on the departure location, I can join you wherever you are. Same for the arrival, though I have a preference for the Caribbean / Brazil.
In April I started a bit of a crazy adventure project where I'm taking on 4 sporting and artistic challenges:
-Run the UTMB (done end of august, finished after a nice little 40-hour stroll :-)..)
-Learn to sail well enough to cross the Atlantic Ocean
-Learn to dance rock and salsa
-Learn guitar and play a concert in public
I think a lot of us don't dare to go after our projects/desires/dreams out of fear. And that's totally legitimate! But in my opinion, it's also a real shame! So this project is meant to show that adventure - by pushing us out of our comfort zone and confronting us with the unknown, adversity, and commitment - is exactly what helps us learn to dare, and along the way, it creates connection!
So that's the "why" :)... Now for the sailing side of things!
I've always been passionate about the ocean (surfing, kiting, diving), and I've built up a lot of sailing experience over the past few months - not just to "do a transat," but because I discovered a real passion for it that I'd like to pursue all the way to sailing independently one day.
My experience, roughly 1000 nautical miles, includes:
-Level 2 Glénans training course (french sailing institution)
-4 days off the Gulf of Morbihan
-1 weekend around Lorient
-2 weeks Naples-Zakynthos (night watches)
-1 week Noirmoutier-La Rochelle
-Coastal skipper license (Permis côtier)
Not yet independent, but very comfortable as crew, seasoned, and I've always gotten excellent feedback from the crews I've sailed with - both on my role on board and on the human side. What I'm looking for above all: a serious, cheerful crew, respectful and sharing in life on board. That's what I hold myself to as well.
On a personal note: I'm passionate about sports (surfing, kiting, trail running, football...), reading, writing, improv theater, and 4 languages (French, Italian, Spanish, English). Calm, serious, curious.
