Looking for a Competent Crew, Delivery Crew, 1st Engineer or Mile building position
Hi - I've just joined Crewbay. I'm interested in finding a position as a Competent Crew, Delivery Crew, 1st Engineer or Mile building. I'm looking forward to meeting some new people!
I’m an experienced Australian commercial mariner with more than 20 years at sea, currently working as a Tug Master and holding an AMSA Master <45 m (Australian EEZ), MED 1, GMDSS and current STCW safety qualifications.
I’ve spent much of my career in command and working in demanding marine environments, but these days I’m looking to broaden my sailing experience, meet good people and enjoy some serious offshore sailing along the way. My goal is to build quality sailing miles, passages and night-watch experience toward my RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Sail.
Although I bring a strong professional maritime background, I’m very happy joining a yacht simply as one of the crew. I’m comfortable standing independent watches, navigating, helping on deck, maintaining and checking machinery, fault-finding, provisioning, cooking or just getting stuck into whatever needs doing. I have also completed an approximately 1,870 NM delivery as Master of a new-build 30 m catamaran from Tasmania to Cairns.
On a personal level, I’m easy-going, fit and active, with a good sense of humour and a naturally jovial personality. I get along with people from all walks of life and understand that on a long passage, being a good crewmate is every bit as important as being technically capable. I’m respectful of the skipper, the vessel and other crew, happy to pull my weight, and equally comfortable having a laugh over dinner or quietly getting on with a 0300 watch.
I enjoy keeping fit and looking after myself, and I’m comfortable with the physical side of life aboard. I enjoy being at sea, being useful and being part of a capable crew. I am also a former PADI Scuba Diving Instructor with over 3000 dives completed.
I hold both Australian and Maltese/EU citizenship and am interested in sailing opportunities worldwide, including deliveries, offshore passages, ocean crossings, deckhand/GPH roles and watchkeeping positions.
