Atlantic Crossing — Seeking an Experienced Skipper & Sailing Partners
Hi, I’m Abderrahmane, an automotive technician based in Algeria. I’m looking to connect with an experienced offshore skipper and like-minded sailing companions to turn an Atlantic crossing into a realistic, well-prepared adventure.
My goal is to sail west across the Atlantic, potentially departing from Cape Verde or another suitable departure point, with the Caribbean as a possible first stop and the United States as the eventual destination. The route and timing would be planned around the boat, crew experience, weather, and entry requirements.
I’m currently exploring boat and crew options. I’m open to joining an existing boat heading in that direction or developing the project together with an experienced sailing partner.
My professional background is in mechanical repairs, electrical systems, and automotive diagnostics. I would be happy to contribute those practical skills to boat preparation and maintenance where appropriate, alongside sharing everyday onboard duties and learning from experienced sailors. I’m open to discussing a fair contribution toward agreed voyage expenses.
I’m particularly interested in meeting someone with offshore passage experience who can help with boat assessment, preparation, passage planning, and watchkeeping. Good communication, mutual respect, and a sensible approach to safety matter to me. I would like us to meet and complete a shorter trial sail together before committing to the crossing.
