What I’m not looking for: “Epic” Instagram adventures.
Hi
I don't know if sailing is for me but all my life, something has subconsciously drawn me to the water. Now I want to find out what it’s like to be out on it.
What I bring:
I’m happy to lend a hand wherever I can. As an engineer, I have a solid basic technical understanding (disclaimer: my specialty, automotive electronics and software, probably won’t be much help).
That said, I’ve never considered any job beneath me. I’ve felled trees, built houses, dug foundations, repaired sewage pumps... I’m a fairly decent cook, and I’m happy to take on any worthwhile, useful work.
As a paraglider pilot, I have a basic understanding of wind and weather. Whether that helps on the water, I can’t say. I’m a so-so swimmer, but I haven’t sunk yet.
I also believe you learn by getting stuck in, trying things out, doing, lending a hand, asking questions... and that’s how to be useful on board. As a manager, I understand the need for hierarchy and procedures, and I see myself as a novice in learning mode who can still make decisions when necessary.
What I hope for:
To gather lots of impressions and experiences. By the end of the trip, I want to have learned a lot about sailing, the weather, and the people on the boat and along the way.
I want to have been useful and helpful, someone you’d like to have along on the next trip... or would be glad to hear from again.
What you get with me as a novice:
A technically skilled, motivated, physically fit, medium-built man from Bavaria who can communicate in English, German, or Bavarian. Also started learning spanish. I’m willing to fit into daily life on board and help make the trip a success, in exchange for experiences, impressions, and new skills.
What I’m not looking for:
