One Sailor, One Sourdough Starter & a Dream

Ahoy sailors!

I'm Jule, 27, and currently stranded in Vigo, Spain, together with my sourdough starter, Pitt. ;)

My big dream is to find a spot on board for a transatlantic crossing on a work-for-berth basis. But I'm just as open to other destinations, sailing areas and adventures along the way!

I've been sailing for as long as I can remember. There's nowhere I feel as free and happy as I do out at sea. Over the years, I've gained around 6,000 nautical miles of sailing experience, including experience as a skipper.

I hold German boating licences for coastal and inland waters (SBF See & Binnen), a radio certificate (SRC), a certificate for handling distress signals (FKN), and I've successfully completed the practical SKS sailing examination. I'm currently studying for the theoretical part.

When I'm not sailing, I work as a special education teacher. I have plenty of experience working with children, including on and around the water. I love creating a safe, supportive and fun environment for kids, and I'm happy to bring these skills on board whenever needed.

After completing my teacher training, I want to use this time to explore more of the world's oceans, gain new experiences and meet inspiring people along the way.

And thanks to Pitt, I can now even bake some pretty good sourdough rye bread. So fresh bread on board is definitely a possibility! ;)

A little about me and life on board:

I value open and honest communication. For me, it's important that everyone feels comfortable speaking up, addressing problems directly and treating each other with respect.

I enjoy:
- Safe sailing and a good sense of adventure
- Low-budget travel – anchoring in a beautiful bay rather than spending money in a marina whenever possible
- Vegetarian and plant-based food
- Living simply and sustainably
- A mindful and respectful approach to people, nature and the ocean
- Sharing skills, stories, laughter and good moments

I'm resilient, hands-on and happy to get involved in all aspects of life on board. No job is beneath me! At the same time, I'm always eager to learn from others, improve my sailing skills and take on new challenges.

What motivates me?

The simplicity of life at sea, freedom, community, the endless horizon and the opportunity to keep learning something new every day.

So, if you have a spare berth on board, are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic crew member, or know someone who is – I'd absolutely love to hear from you!

Looking forward to meeting you and hearing your stories.

Fair winds and following seas!
