Looking for a spot on a sailing boat for Atlantic crossing
Hi, I'm looking for a spot for an Atlantic crossing.
My name is Niklas, I'm 34 years old and currently on an around the world trip with my backpack, hitchhiking and wildcamping from place to place. My medium-term goal is to travel through Central and South America. To get there, I'd love to cross the Atlantic by sailboat in November or December.
I am currently in Gibraltar, but I'm very flexible and would also be happy to travel to other ports in southern Spain, Portugal or even the Canary Islands.
For the past few years, I've been working as an electrician in Hamburg, planning and installing photovoltaic systems and battery storage systems. About three months ago, I left Hamburg behind and set off on my journey. For the first seven weeks, I travelled by bicycle through Germany and Switzerland. Since then, I've been travelling with my backpack.
I'm a beginner when it comes to sailing, but I have some experience from two sailing trips – one in the Baltic Sea and one on the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands. I'd love to build on that experience and I'm highly motivated to learn more and actively contribute to everything that comes up on board.
Thanks to my professional background, I have good technical knowledge and practical skills. I'm always happy to lend a hand, enjoy meeting new people and would be very excited to join a crew for an Atlantic crossing.
I know how important a good connection and atmosphere within the crew are, especially on a longer journey like this. I'd be happy to have a chat, get to know each other a little and see if we're a good fit. I'm generally a calm and reliable person who enjoys good conversations, reading and lately, has become quite enthusiastic about writing in my journal.
Side note: I speak German and English fluently and, of course, I'm happy to contribute my fair share to the onboard expenses.
If you're looking for a motivated crew member for November or December, or know someone who might be interested, I'd be happy to hear from you.
Best regards,
Niklas
