Open to local sailing here near St Pete and long weekend+ voyages.
Hello to potential leaders, co-adventurers and friends,
I am fortunate to have a flexible work life that allows me to dedicate time to chasing adventure on boats. I enjoy getting out in the world and I love pitching in to make a successful voyage. Part of what makes sailing so rewarding is the shared effort that goes into pulling the whole thing off. Given the major resources that go into maintaining and operating a vessel, I appreciate the opportunity to be aboard.
Many thanks for taking the time and I look forward to being in touch,
Dave
Some biographical info:
I’m originally from Utah, live in St Pete, Florida. I’m a cyclist and backpacker. I have most recently worked as a research assistant and clinician in medical facilities. I am currently on a hiatus from work, attempting to take advantage of the free time. As a crew member, I might need to spend a few hours per week shoreside doing job hunting and corresponding on a laptop.
Personality: I’m generally gregarious and friendly. I’m flexible and adaptive to most situations and personalities. I typically like to spend two to three hours per day doing my own thing. I’m risk-averse when it comes to sailing, meaning safety is a priority. That being said, I function well when the going gets rough. Give me a call to see if we might get along.
Sailing experience: ~60 days and ~2000 nautical miles on sailboats in the 40 foot range as crew. I have chartered ~30 ft sailboats. Frequent day-sailing on small sailboats. I have been crew on a few deliveries. Passages as crew: NC to Abaco, Bahamas; St Petersburg to Key West; Ft Myers to Key West. Saint Petersburg to Dry Tortugas, Fort Lauderdale, FL to Norfolk, VA. Numerous successful experiences as volunteer crew through online contact.
