Watch: Panama Canal with 100'ft wooden schooner

About me

Hi my name is Kuba and here is a brief info about myself.

From 2015 to 2019 I have successfully run a private charter operation on the islands of The Great Abaco, Bahamas, with a 100' wooden schooner and its fleet. After hurricane Dorian hit and devastated the Abacos in September 2019 I spent another year taking care of this beautiful 100' schooner in Florida, US. When the vessel got sold to a new owner in 2021 I prepared and delivered the boat from Florida, US to Panama and Golfito, Costa Rica. In 2020 I moved to Czech Republic where I started building boats and houseboats while taking care of 11 vessels in a successful river charter operation, until present.

I usually maintained and fixed all the vessels I owned or I took care of by myself. I consider myself to be an independent and reliable captain, engineer and mechanic. I have prepared vessels for ocean crossings, hurricanes, haul outs and managed various boatyard refits.

I am currently looking for any type of boat job matching my skills anywhere in the world. (from January 2023). From boatyard, maintenance or delivery and charter projects. I am keen to work, learn and do a good quality job.

Right now I am based in central Europe until late October/November.
Holder of B1/B2 US visa and EU citizen.
Yachtmaster Offshore
STCW and ENG1

I am open to discussion and looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
Kuba

show hide Q&A

Q&A

5

Q: What is your favourite boat and why? Formosa 51 - aft cockpit - the deck space is too good to be true for a 51 footer :]

Q: How long have you been boating and what made you start? I have loved boats from yearly childhood but never thought about a serious boating up until 2014

Q: What is the longest passage you’ve completed without stops? Florida, US to Costa Rica

Q: Gin and Tonic in a beautiful anchorage or trimming the sails to get an extra half knot? Trimming for sure.

Q: What’s your funniest experience? Walking a 50lb anchor on my back to a sandy spot in 12'ft of water while my friend at the helm creates a slack on the chain.
