Experienced bluewater sailor looking for delivery, friendship, and recreational crewing opportunites globally
Currently trying to build sea days/miles towards my USCG captain's license. Looking for sailboat delivery and recreational crewing opportunities. Available to travel globally for extended periods of time. Ultimately I want to run charters once I get my license and after exploring the cruising lifestyle for a while. I'm also in the market for my own bluewater cruising boat and will be looking for crew myself at some point.
Solid experience with navigation, weather prediction, helming, radio communications, radar and marine electronics, sail trim, ground tackle, docking, keeping watch, watch planning, provisioning, MOB, boat safety, first aid, and tender ops. Excellent cook and deep knowledge of sailboat system maintenance and repair.
I come from a professional career in electrical engineering and manufacturing. Making a transition over to doing something that truly makes me happy. Currently selling my house and will be ready to take off soon (December 2019ish).
I'm a non-smoker and would prefer to be with other non-smokers. I drink socially, but know my limits. I'm healthy and reasonably fit. Only addiction is coffee. I also play guitar and love music, although I'm a bit out of practice. Would enjoy crewing with other musicians so I could knock the rust off. I'm hoping to get PADI certified and enjoy most water sports. Also enjoy hiking and exploring. I have been a commercial multi-engine instrument pilot for 25 years although I've switched to sailing as my primary passion and have not flown for a few years.
I'm very down to earth and laid back and easy to get along with. I am an environmentalist, conservationist, and humanitarian and slowly leaning towards becoming a pescatarian or vegetarian, although I still eat meat and will prepare and eat pretty much anything as part of a crew.
I am open to meeting a lifelong sailing partner, but by no means is this a requirement for crewing. Nature will work its magic with the right woman if and when it's meant to be.
I don't normally state things like this, but I feel that I must under the current political climate in the USA. I am not a fan of Donald Trump and his cohorts or climate deniers. I am happy to allow people their own opinions, but I have no interest in working for, or crewing with Trump supporter(s) or climate deniers. If this offends you, sorry, but I'm not right for your crew.
