Looking for a crew position on a boat from Central America EASTBOUND (Costa Rica --> Europe)|Atlantic Crossing
WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR
A crew (volunteer/paid) position onboard a boat heading EASTBOUND from Central America/The Caribbean back to the UK/Europe.
PAST EXPERIENCE
In late 2019/early 2020 I completed my first long ocean crossing, an Atlantic crossing from The Canary Islands - Cabo Verde - Suriname. After arriving, I had fallen in love with the life, as most do, and I do not suffer from seasickness, which is an added bonus.
ABOUT ME
Today I am back in Costa Rica, working on an eco-shipyard on the Pacific coast, helping with the build-project of a wooden sailing cargo ship (web page here: www.sailcargo.org). My work here is centred around sustainable provisioning of shipyards and ships and my ultimate goal is to design a comprehensive handbook for SAILCARGO INC.'s flagship: CEIBA. Due to my experience here, I am able to easily aid you in your boat provisioning, and doing so in the most sustainable way possible, with health and zero-waste at the forefront, if you would so desire.
Otherwise, I can also actively take part in life onboard generally, including sitting watches or navigation. I have lot to learn, but I'm very keen to gain experience. Normally, I would prefer to exchange my work for a place on board, however if some contributions are needed towards shared costs, then I'm happy to contribute, as I have done previously.
My attitude is positive and easy-going, I am in fit, attentive to detail, a strong swimmer, organised and hard-working. Previously, I have had experience in food management and as a cook, preparing meals in less favourable conditions for 15+ people, both, at the shipyard in CR, and on a previous trans-Africa overland.
