Deliveries, good food and good fun!
Hi there!
My name is Kathryn. I've been sailing dinghies in the Caribbean for the past 10 years and recently began competing in international keelboat regattas as foredeck crew. I love racing but absolutely adore deliveries for the rolling seas, the starry nights and the wonderful friends made along the way.
I do not have official offshore qualifications ( Working on that now!) but the knowledge I gained through dinghy sailing and racing has translated quite well. As an Industrial Engineer, I love tinkering with mechanisms to make them work better and am always eager to learn something new. Being quite small and flexible has often come in handy when it comes to prepping the small spaces in boats and I'm certainly no stranger to being covered in grease and oil!
I've gained a few affectionate nicknames over the years thanks to my delivery habits. "Auto"(pilot) was earned after my 2nd delivery on which I spent 8 hours straight on the helm, under the night sky. I still love the midnight to sunrise watch! I've also gained a plethora of others for sleeping soundly on piles of wet rope and assorted spares, as well as living quite happily on a diet of granola for entire trips. Don't worry, I make sure everyone else eats fantastically while I continue my snacking habits.
In short, I'm perfect for your next delivery: I eat anything, sleep anywhere, fit anywhere to fix anything, love the late night watches, and am happy to sing and cook for my crewmates :) If you're in need of an extra hand for your next trip send me a message!
One short note:
I do have one visible tattoo (you can see it in my Gallery) of the Leeward Caribbean Isles on the inside of my ankle. It comes with great stories of my family's history and also comes in very handy when you need to describe a Caribbean route :) However, because of it's location it is also fairly difficult to notice when performing regular duties if that is something that might concern you or your guests.
