Looking for a Deckhand position
Ahoy! My Name is Nicholas Oats. I am currently interested in deckhand/crewing opportunities in the Caribbean. I would prefer to work on sailing vessels but power vessels are equally welcomed. I just completed the Mariner Training Curriculum while attending Chapman School of Seamanship located in Stuart, FL. At Chapmans we had the opportunity to have hand on exercises with donated vessels ranging from single/twin inboard screws to single/double outboards and even sailboats. Through these exercises I ended up accumulating 19 "Sea Days" (4 hour day minimum). This does not include the 9 certificates/endorsements I earned while attending, or the other sea time i've accumulated over the years.

I find myself to always go above and beyond in any situations that I encounter. I am a highly motivated individual with huge dreams to travel the world. I've always seemed to struggle with figuring out what I want in life. Whether that be following the basic alternatives society brings, or following something that genuinely makes you feel interested about the day. I'll always choose the road less taken.

I am originally from Atlanta, Ga. I grew up going to a private Christian school in Norcross from 2nd grade through graduation. In all honesty, the strict policies and lack of "color" inspired me to purse a life full of "color" and exploration. I love traveling, its always been one of the things that genuinely makes me happy. Discovering new things, experiencing different cultures, and creating connections with opposing mindsets is what makes life interesting. I look forward to different horizons everyday and sharing them with people that inspire me. Any opportunities, paid or unpaid, to help me pursue my career in the maritime industry will be greatly appreciated.
