I am available for a crewing position anytime around September 2022 from around the Caribbean.
Hello, For many years I have worked in my family business as restaurant manager for a lovely eco resort in Ireland and now I'm taking a break to do something different for a few years or until I take it over. I'm a competent person in all aspects of hospitality and I can easily form a good connection with people. I love to travel. And over the past few years i have developed a big love for the sea and boat life. One day I would like to own my own boat. I’m easy going, transparent, curious and respectful, hard working, eager to learn and up for an adventure. February 2019 I worked for a family for 3 weeks in the BVI as hostess/deckhand on a 58f catamaran ( Reference available). I helped move a beautiful Amel Maramu from Martinique to St.Maarten December 2019. November 2018 I sailed as part of a crew during a 4 month transatlantic (Canaries, Cape Verdes, Senegal, Caribbean) my duties were watch keeping, cooking, cleaning and having fun. In January I volunteered on a refit for the tall ship "tres hombres" as cook for a large crew of 30. I enjoy hard work and a challenge. Any chance I get I'll do something new and exciting.
I sailed with my dad for many summer holidays when I was little. I have recently completed a successful RYA day skipper and navigation course. Since last year November I am crewing for a gentleman on a Van Der Stadt 42 as cook/1st mate from South Africa to the Caribbean we will be arriving in the Caribbean around May this year where the boat will spend hurricane season, probably in Curacao. There I will leave the boat and will be available for another great opportunity.
I love horses, carriage driving, kayaking, snowboarding, camping, glamping, reading psychology books, freedom and great connections.
I love meeting new people. I'm looking for a paid position firstly or just a great boat with interesting plans.
Please get in touch if you like my vibe :)
Merel
