Looking for a non-paid Crew position
Hello, I would love to join a yacht as non-paid crew. I have worked as crew on 3 occasions. 1st trip was a 1 month sail from Panama (through the Canal) to Mexico, 2nd trip was 6 months across the Pacific, Mexico to the Cook Islands, via French Polynesia. My most recent trip, Feb/March 2019, was 4 weeks on an Amel 54, cruising the waters of Panama and then northward onto Providencia & the Caymans. I have not been seasick once during these three trips. My main position was to fix things that broke: electrical, mechanical, etc. Give me a multi-meter and let me go! I do not have any official training in these skills, except what I have learned over the past 30 yrs in repairing many things.
I am presently back in Canada taking a small break from sailing but will plan to be available in Sept onward for another crew assignment. I could be a crew member for weeks or months depending on your needs. I can cook a variety of Asian dishes and enjoy experimenting in the kitchen.
I love outdoor activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving, hiking & cycling. I have a PADI advanced dive card for almost 20yrs. I do not smoke or use drugs. I do not have any diet restrictions.
I realize many captains would be looking for younger (under 40 yrs old) crew, but I want to point out that I am very fit for my age: I regularily mountain bike and go hiking and trekking in many places around the world. In the past few years I have done the full Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal, two separate times, which is 21 days, trekking over 18,000 foot mountain passes.
Over the past 25 yrs I have traveled to more than 90+ countries so I have experience living in other cultures. In the past I have been a website designer, graphic artist, and professional photographer (for over 10 yrs). Now I am semi-retired and only dabble in those skills.
Thank you for your consideration.
