Compitent Crew short course hopeful. Cooks, swims, sings, smiles, communicates. I'll go anywhere to be on the water!
My name is Shawna and I have a couple years sailing and live aboard experience.
I understand how much I don't know as well.
QUICK UPDATE! CURRENTLY IN :Isla Mujeres quite possibly in Florida in the next couple weeks. FIN.
I've been told I tend to sell myself short, so I won't attempt to sell myself at all. I will work hard, keep watch, cook, clean, ECT. In exchange for travel, lodging ( most likely aboard) and food.
If I were to be paid, it would be my first paid, sailing ever.
I am willing to get formal training and certification if I need it.
I would likely have it now but recent world events have somewhat held the process up.
I'm generally a quick learner and easy to get along with.
I have met interesting people in my travels including a highly regarded Capitan who taught me a tiny bit of navigation I cannot wait to put into practice. I'm not looking to be a paid navigator yet, however. I want someone else doing it too, at first. Maybe forever.
Basically I could be a good fit for someone who needs a well rounded crewmate. I can learn what's needed and go from there.
I, also, look forward to doing the "tight ship" perfection and precision on a larger or smaller vessel with training and orientation and the whole production. I've never done that but have been told I'd enjoy it.
I have 1 stipulation, usually. The boat must have sails. It would take a "boatload" of convincing to get me on a motor yacht at a normal time, however, I will consider this at the current time. Everyone is adjusting these days, after all and I hear solar power is getting much better.
I am in Cancun Mexico at presant and would need travel expenses covered if it wasn't close to Isla Mujeres. I live in Canada and do not mind working for the price of a return ticket or on a trial bases for free.
Paid or unpaid, lets go sailing!
I don't smoke.
I like pets and kids but I don't have either.
I would have a dog, but Its easier to get on a crew without one.
I enjoy music, singing, and learning new songs. I've written a few on guitar. Also can pull off a bit of drumming, harmonica, woodwind and keyboard by ear.
Not wanting to bring it all with me, don't worry. I can carry everything I travel with for 8 hours.
Let me know if you would like my further contact info and we can go from there!
Happy sails, everyone!!
(I think it's beneficial at the current time, to add that I am a good human being with thinking experience. Both to do with creativity in a necessity situation at sea, and to do with human emotion. This may prove to be my greatest attribute on crew at these uncertain times. How you feel is all that matters. I will help us feel good.)
Thanks for considering me.
