Looking for an opportunity to cross the north Atlantic
We are Erik and Hanna, a Swedish couple planning to sail around the world. We've been travelling and sailing Central America and the Caribbean since October, and are now looking for a way to get home to Sweden by boat.
Since early age, I've had the dreams, which later turned in to plans, of buying my own boat and sail the world. When I met Hanna five years ago, she got involved in the plans. To get a better view of what boat we are searching for, we're trying to sail as many boats, and talk to as many sailors, as possible. We're not in the rush, and even open for long term voluntary/paid positions (>1 year). For the right fit we're also willing to contribute to the costs to cruise and run the boat.
My sailing carrier started at the age of five in an optimist-dinghy. Later on I switched to sailing Laser, which I at 14 years age got an instructor certificate, and until a couple of years ago my summers has been spent learning kids to sail. Most of my time has no doubt been spent in a dinghy, but I’ve been the owner of two keelboats as well, one Ohlson 22 and one Shipman 28. Together with Hanna and friends I've done five bareboat charters as skipper in Sweden and Croatia, as well as a shorter delivery in Sweden. The last months (October, November, December 2022), we've been cruising Colombia and San Blas, and working on the hard in Linton bay, on friends boats that we've met here on Crewbay.
Back in Sweden, I've been studying Business Administration at Stockholm University, and runned a start-up producing modular houses, saving for my future boat. When I'm not sailing, I like to spend my time in the nature skiing, hiking and other outdoor activities. Later years I've developed a big interest for the underwater world, scuba and freediving.
