Looking for a skipper, first mate, delivery crew, or deckhand job!
My name is Giles Lorimer Turner and I’m a commercial skipper with my RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (commercially endorsed). I also have my STCW95, ENG1, PBL2, RYA Dinghy Instructor, and my PADI Open Water. I am looking to continue my career in yachting and love new challenges!
Most recently I was working as a skipper on a lagoon 440 running private charters in Grenada and SVG. I’ve skippered a Lagoon 400 from Lavrio, Greece to Le Marin, Martinique. Before that, I spent the summer season in Greece and Croatia working in both flotillas and private charters on boats between 45 and 55 feet. I have also skippered boats around the South coast of the UK, the English Channel, and the North coast of France. I’ve been a deckhand on a 34 metre sloop “The Spirit of Bermuda” from Virginia to Bermuda. Before I attained my Yachtmaster Offshore I worked as a sailing instructor teaching kids and adults on dinghies and keelboats.
Working flotillas and private charters has given me lots of leadership skills which I have developed since being a dinghy instructor. Being able to crew manage and skipper the boat safely is an important skill, as being a commercial skipper is more than just getting the boat from A to B.
