Hello! I’m Margo—a British–Russian dual citizen, experienced ex IT Programme Manager and current world traveller, exploring new countries, cultures and coastlines during a multi-year career break.

I’m looking for paid work aboard a small private yacht, ideally involving relaxed coastal sailing, island-hopping or shorter passages. I’d be particularly well suited to assisting an owner or solo skipper who would appreciate both a reliable extra pair of hands and a good company.

I’m adventurous but grounded, sociable but independent. I love thoughtful and funny conversations, exchanging travel stories, playing chess and discovering new places. I’m also perfectly happy with companionable silence and giving others their space.

I hold RYA Day Skipper, Competent Crew, Powerboat Level 2 and Dinghy Sailing qualifications, with approximately 500 nautical miles of sailing experience. This includes the UK, Mediterranean, Indonesia and Western Australia, with offshore passages, night watches and living aboard. I also spent some time racing keelboats in London, which gave me an appreciation for fresh winds and lively sailing conditions.

I’m happy to take watches and assist with navigation, passage preparation, routine deck duties, provisioning and tidying. I’m also afoodie: although I’m not a professional chef, I enjoy some cooking for a smaller group.

I’m considering paid positions, with travel costs to and from the vessel covered by the skipper or owner. A private cabin is ideal.

An initial two- or three-week trip would be ideal, with the possibility of something longer if we work well together.
