Kiwi Crew searching for passage
Hello all,
I'm interested in finding a position as a Novice Crew member or a position in a hospitality role, preferably heading to Indonesia.
I have spent the last few years finishing my political science degree, working in a pub and volunteering with a refugee charity. Needless to say I work hard and I even like to work for free! I am looking at slow travel so that my adventures can be more sustainable and more fulfilling- it's becoming obvious that it goes against my values to live in such a resource intensive way.
I grew up on a farm on the coast in New Zealand and was so lucky to experience the things that come with that, bare feet, jellyfish stings, crazy weather, hard work, sheep in the house... etc!
I left to travel as a teenager and have been settled in Australia for the last few years but its time to get going again. I'm a good-humoured, socially minded person, I love to cook and look after other people.
I'm well travelled, open-minded and flexible with my plans, eventually I'd like to end up in the USA sometime next year to meet up with family but in the meantime I'm keen to explore, plant trees, watch the ocean and make food for new friends.
I would love to exchange my work for some ocean miles and your sailing knowledge. I spent many hours on the cook strait ferry between the islands of NZ and was always in love with that trip. I am trying to avoid travelling by air because I crave a challenge and an adventure. I love to read, make up stories and ask questions.
I love to learn new things, especially hands on skills. I believe I am good at reading what people need and being a competent assistant and showing initiative where needed. I'm also freakishly organised but in that 'wow Jenna really knows how to set out a drawer' type of way not in a ' wow Jenna is a bit unhinged' kind of way...!
Clearly all 'sail hitchhikers' will say these things about themselves in order to find a passage, it's important to me that I feel safe and that we can all be comfortable and communicate well with one another.
