Searching for opportunities
Ahoy, permission to come aboard? I am a very competent sailor and have trained with Maryland School of Sailing through 106 (IP 32 and IP 40) and Blackrock School through 114 (FP 36). I did retake classes for fun, because every captain has something to learn from. I am trying to gain experience on 40 foot plus monohulls, but I would accept a catamaran opportunity. I do love the feel of a monohull though. I estimate my big water time to be about 800 N.mi, but sailing time is in the 2k N.mi. area. I can provide contacts that I am certain would provide glowing reviews. I have been sailing for over 10 years, but I also have a vast background in aviation maintenance, boat repair, and management. I also have PADI open water, advanced, and Nitrox with 82 dives.
Most people say I have a interesting background. I have a Catalina 22 that I have sailed and restored. I am a Aviation Maintenance Controller, am a aircraft mechanic (licensed), have 2 degrees in Electronics, am a excellent chef, and can succeed at anything. I know what you're thinking, what is your specialty dish... Well it is mushroom risotto with garlic butter steak, but I am looking forward to work on some fish dishes. Sushi you ask? I do make a mean smoked Salmon roll.
I have a job where I can get weeks off in lumps with a little notice. And, I fly for free to most of the world. I am willing to work with competent captain and crew, and always looking to learn. I am fairly funny and very politically incorrect, but I know how to shut it off when it's time to get serious.
Tell me what you're looking for and let's see what kind of agreement we can hash out. Paid and unpaid requests welcome. I'm looking for a relaxed but moderately professional group who does their part. I will say this, I am not looking for boats who have passengers of privilege. I don't do the passenger thing, and I respect if that is your buisness just would not be a good fit for me. I believe in good work life balance.
