Watch: Grumpy Sailing
Looking for solent day-sailing and hopefully passages later on when I'm free
Not the good looking female crew with no sailing knowledge that most skippers appear to be looking for.
I'm just a man, straight and interested in all things sailing, including repair, maintenance and systems. I'll get my own boat later, I did favour a catamaran for myself, but now committed to mono-hulls. Happy to crew either.
In rare spare time, I currently skipper a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 from Port Hamble (switched from Fountaine Pajot Mahe 36 catamaran) that I have shared use of, in and around the Solent and Isle of Wight. When my situation allows, I hope to have the personal time for more formal seamanship training and consolidating experience locally before finding something further afield to do.
Fit and healthy (OK healthy), most components are in full working order (brain excluded).
I'm an easy going, straight, ex- IT Systems Architect/Engineer, so I have good technical acumen and can "make a reasonable fist" of running repairs and instrumentation failures.
Better at washing up, I can cook simple things with widely varying success, but I am always happy to try to give some respite to crew members unfortunate enough to be blighted with real culinary skills.
I like people and think I'm easy going, I mentor without belittling and I hope for the same from those above.
Diplomatic, I believe I'm trustworthy with a generous big brotherly shoulder/empathy. I try not to be boring but usually fail. I am not musical, speak one language and pants at jokes. I'm not vegetarian and have no allergies, no piercings, little hair and no tattoos. As I said, boring.
My passport is British (still European) and runs to 2022.
