Mr Mike
Hello All. I'm looking for any interesting crewing opportunities, largely in Europe, but would consider further afield for the right opportunity.
My experience includes crewing and leading 24-hour watches in the Atlantic/Hebrides/North Sea/Med. Two highlights were a direct sail from Donegal to St Kilda in a Frances 26, and Oban to Maldon in Essex aboard the 100-ft brigantine Lady of Avenel via the Caledonian Canal and North Sea.
Most recent trips have been a week's "hike and sail" from The Solent to Cherbourg and the Channel Islands in August last year. Also six days in April 2024 from Woolverstone (Ipswich) to Lowestoft and back supporting crew training, both with with Fairlead Sailing. This included two night sails, plus one night anchored off Brightlingsea on the return leg (and two days storm-bound in Lowestoft...). I also sailed with them aboard a Beneteau Oceanis 393 from Jersey to Plymouth, via Guernsey, Alderney, Brixham, Torquay, Dartmouth and Salcombe in Sep 2023, also involving a night sail.
Crewing aboard a Maxi 1100 for two weeks in July 2022, north out of La Rochelle was another recent highlight. Also various cruises in Croatia, Virgin Islands and UK South Coast. I crewed a Beneteau Oceanis 393 from Aegina to Preveza round the Peloponnese in August 2017, a voyage which also included night sailing.
I have the RYA Day Skipper Practical qualification (2016) and a current outdoor first aid certificate. I'm a keen windsurfer, skier, fit and decent cook. I'm retired so flexible, and easy-going. I am often available at short notice.
