My most recent sailing and marine experience:
September 2023: Delivery of a Bavaria 38 Cruiser from Stockholm, Sweden, south to Rügen Island, northern Germany for winter maintenance and storage. Skipper + total 3 crew. This delivery was a genuine pleasure: we quickly established an excellent crew dynamic and the boat performed exceptionally well. 420 nm on this assignment.
Feb 2023 - June 2023: Selected to deliver a new Fountaine-Pajot Isla 40 catamaran from La Rochelle, France to Mahe Island, the Seychelles as part of a total crew of 3. 6346 nm covered over three consecutive months at sea, with relatively little land contact. Gained catamaran experience and significantly improved day and night navigation, planning, sail handling, ropework and all round crewing skills.
October 2022: 1st Mate on a successful delivery assignment, bringing a 50ft Beneteau Bruce Farr Celebration home to South West Finland from Porto, Portugal. We sailed by 9 countries over 22 days at sea, only making land (briefly!) a total of 5 times over the entire voyage. This delivery was 2314 nm, sailing northwards along the European Atlantic coast and in to the Baltic, in October and November!
May 2022: helped to crew a 41ft Westerly Oceanlord across the Atlantic from Bermuda to the Azores as part of a skipper + 3 man crew, over a distance of 1977 nm. We were 14 days and 11 hours at sea.
I have extensive sailing, working and fit/maintenance familiarity with: Westerly, Hallberg-Rassy, Najad, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Dufour, Bavaria, Dehler and others.
I'm familiar with navigation, (overnight) watches, running rigging configurations, sail plans, instruments, maneuvering, docking, provisioning, galley +.
I'm always willing to learn, to take instruction, to improve as a sailor, to contribute and work hard.
I'm outgoing, considerate of others, humorous and easy to get along with whilst also diligent, careful and with great attention to detail. I keep my personal space/s and area/s of responsibility on board clean, tidy and organised at all times.
Objectives I intend to achieve: gain Pacific sailing experience, race Sydney to Hobart, spend time in the Caribbean, sail the US Eastern Seaboard and do more coastal sailing around the UK, my home. I'd also love to sail from the Carolinas to Bermuda and from the Azores to the Iberian mainland as this will enable me to link up some previous, long-range expeditions.
