World cycle tourer (and dog) looking to crew Europe to Americas
Dear Skipper!
I am very excited to gain sailing experience through a transatlantic crossing to Central / South America. I am very flexible with boarding location (Spain, Portugal, France, Morocco, Canaries) and departure date ~ Dec 2020 or Jan / Feb 2021 for the trade winds and hopefully being the other side of the Covid panademic.
IMPORTANT: I am doing an around-the-world bicycle tour with my lovable labradoodle dog. Therefore I will have my bicycle, collapsable dog trailer and the dog with me. My labradoodle is small / medium sized and super friendly. He never bites and seldom barks. He has all his required vaccinations (including rabies), paperwork and is microchipped. I'll get him a big bag of kibble for the voyage. He sleeps on his dog bed on the floor and doesn't shed fur. He is lovable, and looks more like a cross between a sheep and a teddy bear than a dog ? I will train him to go to the toilet on a piece of astroturf which I will rinse overboard and wash myself, as I have seen other dog-owning crew do.
What I can add:
I am very fit, healthy and motivated to learn how to sail.
I strive to maintain a positive attitude and have had a lot of experience of battling through very bad weather!
I am a qualified and experienced Chemistry and Science teacher, as well as a CELTA-certified English language teacher, and I am happy to teach if there is an audience for it! If not, I won't preach, don't worry ?
I have a Level 3 Outdoor and Paediatric First Aid qualification.
I love experiencing new cultures and living abroad. I hope to settle in South America after our world cycle tour.
I am conversational in French and German and have begun to learn Spanish.
I really enjoy card games, board games, having some drinks and a good laugh with others.
I enjoy amateur photography and look forward to shooting some good footage with my DJI Osmo action
An incredibly lovable dog for the journey!
Coming from the small island of Guernsey, I have always loved water sports but have never had the opportunity to learn to sail. I love learning new skills and having new adventures in the great outdoors. Crewing on yachts fits perfectly into my plan to circumnavigate the world by bicycle with my dog in a sustainable way.
I genuinely can not wait!
