Looking for a Intermediate Crew, Racing or Mile building position
Hi,
My Name is Aaron Collins. I am looking to join a crew for experience living and sailing on the open ocean, and as always adventure!
I grew up between surfing and sailing in Ventura CA, and climbing and fishing in Colorado. I love everything about the ocean. Swimming, Diving, Fishing, and especially eating things that come out of it.
In my 20's I toured as a musician. I was able to travel the world touring with large bands that I looked up to and many of which are close friends to this day. I After years of making music, putting out albums, and touring I decided to settle down and work on my other passion designing and building. I joined finartco.com as the head project manager and designer. I have built and designed restaurants, bars, work spaces, and retail environments. I am handy and can fix almost anything.
Five years ago I bought a 18' Bombardier sailboat, and taught myself how to sail on the mountain lakes in CO. I have become a competent sailer, with an understanding of concepts, vernacular, and intuition. I realize that for blue ocean sailers this my seem pretty small potatoes, but I dare anyone to sail a boat that can tip over in cold water under winds that vary in speed and direction in a moments notice and not have a respect for small boat sailing and the experience it brings. You find yourself in crazy situations and learn how to be safe and eventually have fun. I also race on a J80 out of the Dillon Yacht club. We race three days a week during the season. Racing has elevated my sailing, not only just the hours you get helming and trimming, but also the situations that you would never get into pleasure sailing.
I'm looking to meet other adventures who respect this life style and to learn from their experience, with the goal of owning my own blue ocean boat some day. I cook, clean and can even sing some songs at the end of the day. Thanks for reading, I look forward to talking to you soon.
