Looking for crew or voluntary position - ideally US - currently in San Diego
Hi my name is Julian. I am a Mechanical Engineering student in San Diego. I am passionate about surfing, sailing, fishing, backpacking, and anything related to the outdoors. I have a strong desire for adventure and would love the opportunity to discover new places.
I have recently spent about 2 months aboard an Oyster 39 in Bonaire, spent the majority of the time getting practical and theoretical lessons by the captain who is a yachtmaster instructor. During this period I helped with the boat maintenance, provisioning, cooking and the day to day running of the vessel. I then heped sail the boat from Bonaire to St Martin, this passage was 540NM and did several solo night watches.
I also recently spent 1 month in USVI living aboard a 63' trimaran assisting with and learning about mechanical repairs and maintenance (did not do much sailing on this boat as it was a charter boat and was mainly helping to get it in shape to take on costumers).
Assited in short delivery from Venice, LA to Kemah, TX. 350NM
I have taken the ASA Basic Keelboat 101 course, the Coastal Cruising 103 course, and have been going on weekly day sails but still have plenty to learn and am looking to expand my knowledge on sailing.
SDI open water scuba diver certified
Although I am only 20, I am a sensible and accountable individual and I am extremely confident that I can tackle any task needed.
I have had the opportunity to travel to multiple places and have lived in three different countries around the world (Argentina, Brazil & US), where I have learned to deal with various cultures and individuals.
I am a quick learner and a self-starter, outgoing, enthusiastic, hardworking and will perform well under pressure. I am highly capable of adapting to a new environment and handling different responsibilities.
Interested in joining long or short trips and open to any port of departure.
