Looking for Medical staff/Housekeeping/mile building, Pacific. Hard Working, Teachable, Volunteer or Paid
Hello Skippers! I'm a U.S. citizen with valid passport until Nov 2026. I learn fast and work hard and take pride in details. I am ready to sail the Pacific Ocean (possibly the Atlantic). Police check May 2021- current. No smoking, no tattoos, no drugs, no drinking. I hope to be a valuable crew member on a clean respectable yacht. Paid work or volunteer work for experience, friendship and to enjoy exploring the islands and marine life.
I'm rarely seasick, good at following orders, eager to learn navigation, can take the helm and pull lines (still learning the lines). I have a current boat operators licence to drive a small boat and PWC. Boating safety course Oct 2019. My sailing experience includes coastal cruising 400+nm on a few yachts during Sept, Nov-Dec 2020 (4 weeks total).
I don't drink, but I'm fine with others who enjoy a casual drink. I love the ocean and relish in the peace of the sound of waves and I still love to have fun. I am thrilled in amazement each time I see new marine life and I love learning about new places and cultures.
I worked in hospitality off and on for many years. I take pride in strong attention to detail. My experience includes housekeeping, waitressing and event planning. I've planned/coordinated two large events; wedding reception 150+ guests 2002 and an event breakfast with 120+ guests 2012, plus many small events catering for gatherings of 10-50 guests.
Experience and training in wilderness survival/ wilderness 1st responder 2003-2004, which allowed me to volunteer as a 1st responder in the Oregon Cascade mountain range, U.S.A.
My education: 3 yr nurse degree USA 1997. I owned a small 24/7 nursing facilty/ hospice care home 2002 - 2004.
I have experience as a medical volunteer in 3rd world conditions (remote small villages in Mexico). Other volunteer work I've done involved many aspects of nursing care, including assisting in several child birth deliveries and delivering one on my own with my teen daughter to assist.
Since 2010 I've primarily worked as a nutritionist and health consultant... and of course, always a nurse when needed.
I hope to be part of a team on a clean, well equipped yacht with respectable competent crew. I'm looking for a captain who is Intellegent, positive, considerate, honest and a highly experienced sailor who has sailed accross ocean(s) and is trained and equiped to use old school navigation if needed. Yacht must have desalination water maker.
Please contact me via message if you need more information or if you would like to schedule an interview. I prefer yachts scheduled to leave from the USA or Mexico into the Pacific, however, I am open to the possibility of leaving from the Atlantic depending on the route, thank you.
I look forward to being a part of your team and being a part of the sailing community.
Cheers, Mel
