Looking for a Captain or crew position.

Hi - I've just joined Crewbay. I'm interested in finding a position as a Captain or crew. I am a qualified Coxswain, Sailing instructor, surfing instructor, diver(open water, rescue and advanced) and teacher wanting to take on any role. I am a non smoker, social drinker, fit and healthy. I have worked as a teacher for 28 years the last 23 of which have been as an administrator in schools.
I have also been fortunate to have worked in a sailing school and delivered a lot of maritime training. I have also been registered in Queensland Australia to issue Boat and Jet Ski licences to the general public. I have some engineering knowledge and am generally able to fix most things that go wrong on boats. I have recently returned from skippering a 50 foot Bavaria yacht around the Phillipines and Malaysia for 6 weeks as well as an Amel 54 around Vanuatu. Most recently in 2022 I have skippered a beautiful Outremer 60ft 5x up the Qld Coast for a 6 months with a variety of different crew. I am currently the skipper of an 111 person commercial passenger ferry in Noosa.
I am currently living in Noosa and looking to do some sailing in this vicinity or further afield with my available time. I am open to all suggestions. I am very open to an extended paid role aboard any vessel or other arrangement by negotiation. I generally like to go to new places and see new things. I have done a lot of sea and white water kayaking and like to surf. I also have been spearfishing since I was 20. I also have a background and qualifications in Health and Safety so like to make sure that everyone is looked out for on board. I enjoy all aspects of being on the water and exploring new places and meeting new people. I like to ensure that things are always positive on board and that solutions are found for any challenges that may be thrown our way. I would consider any offer in any location. I highly recommend Dean.
We spent 7 weeks together sailing up the east coast on the great barrier reef. It was my first time sailing on a boat, and my experience definitely would have been different if he wasn't there. It was amazing to have him on board. Dean is very competent sailor and always keen to teach you, not only sailing but also mechanic, fishing, anything actually that you interested in. He fixed a lot of things on the boat and I learned a lot with him. I was amazed by the knowledge he had on all the places we went to and the sea life making him a 5 stars guide tour. He's also always keen to go on adventures, hiking, diving, paddling. We had great fun and shared a lot of very nice conversations. Dean also have great self control, making sure that safety comes first, looking after the crew and making sure everybody knows what gonna happen. To summarise he is amazing on a skilled aspect as much as on a humain aspect. He is my dear friend and I'm so glad I met him.

I can without a doubt offer Dean the highest recommendation. I sailed with him a little over a month and look back on our trip together with great joy. I felt very safe sailing with Dean as my captain and come rain or shine Dean has a positive disposition. He was always very focused on the safety of the boat and his crew. From his first moment on board he familiarized himself with the boat. He took time to give his crew a comprehensive overview by showing us the inner workings of the boat. I was very keen to learn how to sail and I always felt that Dean wanted to share his knowledge of sailing. In my opinion Dean is the best teacher you can find given that he is a very skilled communicator. Additionally, Dean was very interested in getting to know his crew and invested himself in being a part of the team on board. Dean made me feel at ease in his company, he is a very kind person and a great sailor.

I cannot speak to the character of Dean more highly. From the moment he stepped on the boat he exuded confidence that showed the crew he knew exactly what he was doing. His focus was always on the best interest of the boat and safety of its crew. He took the time to familiarize himself with the boat immediately and then taught myself and the rest of the crew on an ongoing basis its inner workings. Dean would work tirelessly to not only fix whatever inherited issues the boat had upon arrival but also find new and efficient innovations to make the boat run more smoothly and make everyone's lives easier.

On a personal note, one of my biggest goals was to learn how to sail. Dean took my education very seriously and constantly looked for opportunities to teach me his knowledge. He has an unteachable touch when it comes to providing wisdom and letting you figure it out on your own.

My time spent with Dean was nothing short of a pleasure. He is a fantastic captain, a world-class sailor, and above all a great man. I could not recommend him more highly.
