Hi, I'm Heather! I have grown up boating on motor boats (Lake Erie, Lake Chautauqua), but got into sailing in the past few years and am OBSESSED. I love traveling and being on the water, and if it were my way I would live on the water full-time. I have a great work ethic (I started working at the age of 13 mucking horse stalls), and love to learn and experience everything sailing has to offer.
It's rare for me to be one of those people who can sit on a boat and just "enjoy" the ride (probably why I love sailing). Don't get me wrong, my favorite spot on a sailboat is hiking on a good heel, but I always want to be part of the crew on any boat I am on, not just a visitor. I like to be part of the action (even on charters with family I ask the crew if I can help).
I'll be honest, I am looking to get on a sailboat whenever I can, and if I can make it work with my schedule, I 100% will. I still work in an office, so I can't commit to longer-term trips, but races, cruising, and trips a week at a time work well. I am ASA 101, 103, and 104 certified, been on many day trips, and am on the Board of a local sailing club where I am on a standard crew of 5 racing Spinnaker every Wednesday and Sunday (Foredeck/Bowman), but I jump on other boats in our club to help out with other races and regattas (ranging from 22 to 35 foot boats). I also won Foredecker of the year in 2024.
