Learning by doing - new to the trade. Work for sail, exchange of skills
Hi,
I am travelling the world for a year now, changing places often to see and explore different countries - sometimes by land, sometimes by water. Participating and learning how to sail opens up new horizons and more possibilities related to travelling. I am fit, I am curious and I am up for it.
I'm interested in finding a position as a Novice Crew to learn sailing and can offer my carpentry skills in return. I worked as a carpenter in a small boats yard (canoes, rowing boats and small yachts) which might come in handy on a boat.
Apart from that I guess there is always something to do on a boat. I want to contribute with work for the possibility to learn and earn my stay (and food). I have done so in Feb / March'23 in Baja California and had a tiny glimpse into the world of sailing, when I worked for a local skipper (building a door, helping with maintenance.
I will soon be in Jamaica and travelling the Caribbean till the end of February '24. Then I will return to Europe for a few months. In a perfect world I would get on board of your boat / ship on the 21st of December, heading Southwest...;-)
If my travels (Dec.23-Feb.24) coincide with your sailing plans and I could be crew for a few weeks (if that helps you in any way), please let me know, as I am quite flexible and open to ideas.
If I have a choice, I would like to be on a boat with more than one other persons - preferably boats with a crew (2+) or a family.
Thanks beforehand and if you have any advice, feel free to let me know.
Cheers, Ute
