COUPLE - Captain/Chef & Mate/Stew/Divemaster seeking Pacific or Atlantic crossing May 2024, open to other opportunities
Hi there! We are Kevin and Maureen, an experienced yacht Chef/USCG 200T Sailing Captain and Mate/Stew/PADI Assistant Instructor couple. We are looking for opportunities, ideally aboard a sailing vessel, beginning May 2024. We are open to freelance, transit, or seasonal paid professional positions as well as voluntary opportunities to cross the Pacific or Atlantic. We are currently working in the Caribbean and US Northeast until around late April. Our ideal position would be helping move a sailing vessel from the Caribbean through the Panama canal and ending in the South Pacific, although we are open to all opportunities.
We are hard-working, positive, adaptable, and we genuinely love the ocean and enjoying the company of like-minded people. In our spare time we enjoy surfing, free-diving, spearfishing, traveling to remote destinations, and taking care of our minds and bodies.
Kevin is a 34 year old professional yacht chef and USCG 200 ton Captain with 5+ years of professional freelance chef experience, 10+ years of professional and leisure sailing experience, and over 5 years of captaining a variety of catamarans, monohulls, and motor yachts. He has most recently (as of March 2024) captained a 58ft Leopard from Florida around the Bahamas for a month, teaching the owners how to sail and repairing the many electrical, plumbing, and engine issues along the way. Kevin has over 6000NM under sail, his STCW was updated October 2023, and he has a current US passport. He is an absolute non-smoker, rarely drinks alcohol, and is a curious, helpful, and kind problem-solver with a knack for fixing just about anything.
Maureen is a 29 year old freelance deck/stew pursuing her Captain's license and looking to gain as much experience and knowledge as she can get her hands on. With over 3500NMs under her belt, she has a desire to keep improving her sailing skills and learn as much as she can from the many highly experienced seamen and women around her. She is very eager to learn more and has over a year of combined experience on a variety of freelance motor yachts and catamarans as a freelance stewardess or mate/stew. A previous competitive swimmer and a confident solo world traveler, Maureen is adaptable, easy to get along with, highly capable, fun-loving, and a voraciously curious person. Maureen is also a true non-smoker, rarely drinks alcohol, and truly loves being at sea. Maureen updated her STCW in November 2024, has a current US passport, and will be ready to start the next adventure in late April or early May 2024.
We are a very well-established couple has spent the past 8 months working together in tight living quarters aboard various motor yachts and catamarans. We are happy to provide references that we work and live well together. We are not interested in separating and are only looking for positions where we will be together.
