“Passionate, Adaptable Crew Seeking Sailing Adventures, Offshore Passages & Learning
Hi Captains and Sailors,
My name is Paweł and I'm looking to join a sailing boat in Europe and the Mediterranean. My primary goal is to reach the Canary Islands and ideally continue toward the Caribbean or South America.
I am not just looking for a ride: I genuinely enjoy sailing, being part of a team, being in the flow of travel, and working on boats. I enjoy the rhythm of life at sea, the simplicity, the teamwork, the night watches, and facing challenges together. Sailing has become the place where I feel focused, calm — at the right place.
My long-term plan is to stay around boats and keep learning.
Sailing experience: ~3,500 NM documented
Last year I completed the full route Valencia → Canary Islands → Porto Santo → Madeira → Cádiz, including sailing around all the main Canary Islands.
I crewed for several captains and collected references from almost all of them.
Longest passages:
• Tarifa → La Graciosa: 7 days, ~700 NM
• Madeira → Cádiz: 5 days, ~500 NM
Additional background:
• One-week sailing trip in Croatia
• Several shorter trips in Poland and around Europe
• Total: ~3,500 NM, offshore and coastal
• Sail handling, reefing, anchoring, bow work, helming
• Night watches — comfortable and confident
• Practical boat work: cleaning, varnishing, basic repairs
Maritime Certifications
• RYA Day Skipper
• RYA VHF SRC
• RYA Basic Seamanship & Navigation
• STCW (all modules)
Technical & Industrial Skills (useful on boats)
• Mechatronics Technician — strong mechanical + electrical troubleshooting
• SSI Open Water Diver (nitrox, dry suit)
• IRATA Level 1 — rope access, mast work, rig checks
• TIG 141 Level 1 welding — metalwork
• STS-01 & STS-02, A1/A3 Drone Operator — inspections & documentation
These skills support rigging, repairs, preparation work, safety and problem-solving onboard.
Personal Qualities – Calm, Clear & Focused
• No alcohol, no drugs
• Emotionally stable thanks to years of Vipassana meditation
• Healthy lifestyle, respectful, tidy, positive
• Easy in shared spaces, adaptable, solution-oriented
Life on a boat is about personality as much as skills — I am patient, grounded, communicative, and genuinely enjoy teamwork.
Galley Skills
Confident, creative cook — nutritious, plant-based meals, good organisation, and happy to take responsibility when needed.

• Polish — native
• English — fluent

Availability
I need to earn a bit more money first, so I will mainly be available after Christmas.
However — for any paid or partially paid work (delivery, deckhand, preparation, maintenance), I am available immediately.
Also open to:
• Mediterranean passages
• Deliveries from mainland Spain to the Canary Islands
• Short-term work to prepare a boat for a longer crossing
Before sailing, I spent years hitchhiking across Europe, travelling with very little, learning from people on the road, and discovering different cultures and lifestyles. Sailing became a natural continuation of this way of travelling — slow, meaningful, human, and deeply connected to nature.
I enjoy meeting people who live differently, move differently, and create their own colourful ways of being in the world. Sailing fits perfectly into that: a simple, cooperative, nomadic lifestyle that brings out the best in me.
For two consecutive years, I arrived in Gibraltar too late for the season and couldn’t find a boat — but I refused to take a plane.
I was determined to travel sustainably and stay true to my values.
Only on the third attempt did I finally manage to reach the Canary Islands by sea.
For me, it's not “just fun” — it is a commitment, a dream, and a way of life.
If you're looking for a sober, calm, technically skilled, hardworking and motivated crew member who truly loves sailing and learns fast, I would be happy to connect.
