Looking to enjoy oceans and life
Hi. I'm Phil, and I’m here to find a good boat with great people. I left my career about 3 years ago - it was a good run doing the business and engineering thing - and it's time for a new direction. Right now, I'm looking to sail in warm climates, meet interesting people, and mostly go at a leisurely adventure pace.
I've been on boats and sailing since I was a kid. My dad and uncle used to take me sailing. During high school I was in the Sea Scouts (yup, that's a thing). For the last 18 years I've been bouy racing on a Moore 24, mostly in Hood River, or regattas up and down the west coast. We're casually serious about racing, or maybe seriously casual... I'm usually on bow, or occasionally trim. I've also spent a few weeks on a 47' cat in the Caribbean with my family, and captained the last trip (bareboat charter).
I'm also PADI certified, and have a pilots license, although I've neglected both for years. I've spent many hours kiteboarding, mountain biking, and doing various outdoor sports. But these days I spend my time doing yoga, cooking, hiking, meditating, dancing, doing journey work, or enjoying music.
Currently living in Oregon, and I’ve also lived in California and Colorado. I was born and raised in Germany, so I speak German fluently. I've been to 35 countries along the way.
I can meet anywhere, have two passports ready to go ;) An ocean crossing is of interest, but not a priority. My timeframe is flexible, as are most specifics, and most importantly I'd like to have a good energy with the other people on the boat. If all this sounds like a fit, let’s hop on a call.
