Looking for a Novice Crew or Mile building position

I have been sailing for about seven years now. I first learned on a Hobie Getaway in Mission Bay, before branching out into sailing Lasers, RS Quests, and windsurfing. In summer of 2021 I earned my US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification. That fall I expanded my certifications with US Sailing Basic Cruising and Bareboat Cruising.
I have accrued a lot of time day sailing Capri 22s out of San Diego Bay and Long Beach, both solo and with friends who have minimal or no sailing experience. I’ve also skippered various other sloops between 27-41 feet for family and friends doing day sails around San Diego and Coronado, and recently skippered a Lagoon 380 for a 3-day Catalina excursion out of Long Beach. Currently crewing for a cruiser in the Exumas, Bahamas on an FP Helia 44.
Although I’ve loved sailing since the first time I pushed off the beach in a Hobie, I’ve recently become more interested in the possibility of taking it from just a passion and hobby to a new career direction. I want to earn my six pack (and beyond!) license and am constantly looking for opportunities to get my sea time in and build my confidence on different boats and systems. I am especially interested in gaining more experience with coastal and blue water passage making and navigation. I would also like to build my practical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and propulsion systems and their repair and maintenance.

Outstanding crew, engineer and spear fisherman!

Kelton was an excellent crew and brings an impressive and useful skill set to the boat. Kelton’s friendly demeanor instantly put everyone at ease. His ability to troubleshoot and repair boat challenges is critical to cruising. Who knew that a sailing trip could include gourmet meals? Kelton surprised us with culinary delights—freshly caught fish, lobster, and mouthwatering dishes prepared onboard. His passion for the ocean, culinary skills, and warm personality made the trip and I would welcome him back anytime.
