In the process of reinstating my expired MMC; seeking deckhand/crew opportunities
Hi! I recently passed (again) my MMC Master 100GT exam and am awaiting the reinstatement of my expired license.
I have 500+ days underway and have been helping with deliveries over the past 4 months, most recently on an Azimut 55 from Puerto Vallarta to Newport Beach with SDCaptains.
My goal is to gain more experience underway as a Deckhand, Crew, or Mate. Temporary or permanent. Motor or sail.
I am a USCG vet (4 years active duty; Boatswain Mate). When I left the CG, I decided to pursue a degree and professional career instead of making use of my newly acquired captain's license. Since then, I've enjoyed a wonderful career in technology and have achieved many personal and professional goals. That said, I've always wondered what might have been had I pursued a boating career upon earning my captain's license. And, I've dreamed of being back on the water ever since.
Well, lucky me! I’m in a position to step away from corporate life and pursue a maritime career. I have 10-15 years to dedicate towards this new goal before I even consider retirement. A goal that isn't financially-motivated bur rather, experience-motivated. Bring it on!
Worth noting is that I have significant coxswain and crew experience on both motor and sail boats. I'm responsible, healthy, hard working, a good listener, and I'm told a good story teller. I've travelled the world and I'm no stranger to adventure. Bring it on!
