Have sailed since 1982 and on my own boats in South western Canada since 1988. Upgraded to my current boat in 2019 and sailed around Vancouver Island and up to Alaska twice before heading South to Mexico, Costa Rica and through the Panama Canal. Continued to Jamaica and the Bahamas in 2025 in preparation for an Atlantic crossing.

I have also completed the course work and passed the exams for the ICC and CEVNI certifications.

I am an electrical engineer by training and know my way around engines and other mechanical systems.

Caia

5

Met Philip on crewbay and was invited to sail from Ft Lauderdale to Bermuda, spend 10 days in Bermuda and continue to Azores to fly home from there. Philip is patient, kind, knowledgeable and pragmatic. A great passage planner and excellent in the galley. Great sense of humour and calm presence. Had a great time during the month-long adventure (9 days of sailing to Bermuda and 16 days sailing to Azores). Highly recommend crewing for Philip (and wife Cherie whom I met via videochat..) if they should be in need again. Good people. The boat, Caia is very capable in heavy air and was a pleasure to sail on despite having only one hull. Solid seaworthy design with all needed safety gear and maintained well. Thank you again Philip and Cherie for the adventure and to “Monti” the Servo-pendulum windvane self-steering mechanism which I’d never used before.
