Charlie has a good perfomance, is sailing quick, especially close by the wind. She is easy to ancre or to go by dinkhy to discover the shore. To check the performance, Charlie has a broad range of navigation equipement so the trim can be done easy. For the safety there are an Epirb, VHF, HF, AIS, Signals, Liferaft etc onboard. Opportunity to join a legendary captain and beautiful ship!

5

Captain Gerard's reputation as an experienced sailor and leader at sea are well known - these you can read about in the other references. What I'd like to add here is my personal account of his character, and my gratitude. I spent a little over a month living aboard Charlie and sailing across the Atlantic (Sint Maarten -> Azores) with Capt Gerard. Over this time, we sailed through long periods of squalls, stretches of no wind, but more than anything: the day-to-day challenges of living and working on a boat together throughout it all. Captain Gerard's spirit and steadfastness was unshakable throughout: setting the tone for the whole crew and trip. Waking him for every change of watch throughout the trip, I was greeted with a friendly "Oh great, I'll be right there!" Every time. "I'm a man of duty" he once told me, and I couldn't think of a better way to say it myself. Furthermore, Captain Gerard's patience and willingness to teach on the topics of sailing, navigation, and more, was invaluable. One should consider themselves lucky to have the chance to sail with Captain Gerard and on the most beautiful in every harbor: S/V Charlie.

Transatlantic together

5

If you’ve found captain Gerard, you’ve found a great skipper! We did an Atlantic crossing together, West to East. The captain is very experienced and can confidently deal with any situation. His main focus is always on safety and clear communication between crew members. I loved his positive attitude, his energy and mostly his patience. He was always very happy to share his knowledge and, given my interest, he dedicated hours teaching me about astronomical navigation. The vessel, Charlie, is well equipped and will get you anywhere safely!
