Boat descriptionThe yacht is a 1994 Oyster 55 Sovereign. She is a safe and sturdy bluewater sailboat with most of the creature comforts: generator, watermaker, A/C, heating, etc. capable of crossing oceans. The last refit in 2018 included: new teak deck, interior varnishing, engine & generator overhaul, new watermaker and batteries, antifoul and general maintenance in preparation for the Indian Ocean crossing. Rigging: Cutter rig, genoa (2016) on electric furler, staysail, main (2020) in-mast electric furler Safety gear: All the required for ocean crossing, EPIRB, PLB, AIS MOB beacon, 6p life raft, AIS, 3G Radar, storm jib, 3 anchors, 2x 90m chain, SSB, VHF, IridiumGO satphone, Garmin InReach Iridium SMS device, Starlink. There are 3 cabins: 2 doubles fore and aft, and 2 bunkbeds in the 3rd cabin midship. 2 heads. Gas cooking with huge fridge and freezer. Cruising speed: 6-10kts

Gibraltar Spain to Saint Martin Caribbean

I’ve met Patrick here on Crewbay and he was very professional from the start. We agreed on sailing from Gibraltar to Tenerife to get to know each other, with the prospect of being able to joining him for a transatlantic crossing afterwards. Patrick is a very experienced captain and his partner makes the best authentic Italian dishes, both made me feel very comfortable from the beginning. Patrick is happy to share his knowledge and very patient in teaching all about sailing. His vessel Ostrika is a beautiful 55 Oyster, she is very safe and comfortable with all the necessaries and safety measures on board. Patrick is a very talented handy man and he really takes great care of his sailing vessel, which one can tell straight away by looking at it. I could have not been on a better boat for my first Atlantic crossing, I have learned a lot and I would go onboard Ostrika again any time without question, I really had the best time!
