Ireland → Las Palmas / Canary Islands
Join Seafinn, our 56ft expedition sailboat, for a shared-cost sailing expedition from Ireland to the Canary Islands.
This is a 6-week leg of about 1,700 nautical miles. The route is weather-dependent, but the rough plan is to depart from Ireland, most likely Dublin, and sail south along the west coast of Europe. Possible stops may include Ireland, Biscay, Spain, Portugal and maybe Madeira before reaching Las Palmas.
Expect real offshore sailing, night watches, changing weather, shared meals, practical boat work, and life as part of a small crew.
This is not a charter, holiday package, or paid crew position. Everyone onboard becomes part of the crew and helps with watches, sail handling, cooking, cleaning, provisioning, maintenance, and daily life at sea.
You do not need to be an expert sailor, but you do need to be reliable, flexible, willing to learn, and comfortable living closely with others. Offshore experience, cooking, mechanical, medical, diving, photography, writing, or expedition experience is a bonus.

Shared onboard contribution: €80 per person per day
The contribution covers the necessary onboard and boat-related costs: food onboard, fuel, gas, Starlink, marina/anchorage fees, linens, clearance/navigation fees, and normal running costs.
It also helps us run Seafinn as a safe, well-maintained expedition boat. Serious offshore sailing is not just food and fuel — it also means updated safety equipment, preventative maintenance, repairs before problems become dangerous, and keeping the boat mechanically sound before heading offshore.
Once onboard, the essential expedition costs are covered. You only need to budget separately for travel to/from the boat, visas or personal insurance if needed, and optional personal spending such as alcohol, restaurants ashore, activities, and arrival celebrations.
Before confirming anyone, we do a video call to make sure expectations, personality, dates, and budget all feel like a good fit.

Fantastic Experience
I recently completed a 28 day trip from Nassau Bahama to Halifax Nova Scotia aboard Seafinn. Prior to this trip I had no offshore sailing experience. I cannot overstate how fantastic this adventure was. The crew bonded over shared experiences that most people never have. Captain Fredrik is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of his vessel and in navigating ocean crossings. He took his obligations for our safety very seriously and continuously monitored weather forecasts. He provided daily briefings to the crew on weather patterns and his plan of action to address them. The trip was full of amazing sunsets, brilliant constellations, marine mammals, fish and seabirds. If you are looking for for a shared experience sailing a beautiful boat in a natural setting, I highly recommend Captain Fredrik and Seafinn.
