NZ sailor seeking Pacific / NZ / Aus mile-building passage
Hi, I’m a 35-year-old sailor based in Auckland, looking to build offshore sailing miles toward my Yachtmaster Offshore.
I’m especially interested in passages around New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands, including NZ to the islands, island-to-island passages, or return passages back toward NZ/Aus. I’m open to longer legs where the miles justify travel to and from the boat.
My background includes close to a year working on the motor yacht M/Y Arctic P in the Mediterranean, covering approximately 4,500 miles between Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. I’ve also crewed on a catamaran delivery from Picton to Auckland, and have spent plenty of time sailing in the Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke, Great Barrier and surrounding areas on a Davidson 28 keeler.
I hold an RYA Competent Crew certificate and am comfortable on sailing yachts, with good sea legs and a strong willingness to learn. I’m particularly keen to develop my offshore passage-making, watchkeeping, sail handling and navigation skills.
I’m easy-going, practical, tidy, and happy to help wherever needed. I have experience with yacht maintenance, including teak brightening, stainless polishing, cleaning, and general deck work from my time on superyachts. I’m also happy to contribute fairly to onboard expenses.
I drink very little, have flexible dietary requirements, and am comfortable living simply in shared spaces. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and always aim to be respectful, useful, and low-maintenance onboard.
I’d love to join a safe, well-run vessel where I can contribute, learn, and build meaningful offshore sailing experience.
